Silver Point Union Church
Silver Point Church, founded in 1876, is located on the southwestern edge of Ste. Genevieve County on Highway T.  A log building at Silver Point Church served as both school and church for a number of years.  Records have shown a purchase of land in 1883 from William and Missouri (Ballard) Hines for the establishment of Unity School (Ste. Genevieve County).  It is assumed the building was erected shortly thereafter.

On September 4, 1899 the records show Minnie W. Heitman as teacher, and school board members were Mr. Marlow and Mr. Barron.  Some of the pupils listed were: Josephine Ballard, Luirna Ballard, Philip Ballard, Mamie Ballard, Gilbert Counts, Martha Hines, Nora Moore, Olie Ferguson, Edna Ferguson, Lulu Ellis, Oscar Henry, Charles Hawthorn, Anna Hawthorn, Rachel Ballard, William Ballard, Philip Ballard, Adah Ballard, Florence Barron, Herbert Ellis, Ada Ellis, Cora Ferguson, Emma Gross, Ada Hines, May Henry, and Bertha Moore.
Unity School was closed May 23, 1961; Helen Hines was the teacher at that time.  Today the building serves the community as a church.  The church has regular services and cares for the spiritual needs of the community.
