100 Years Ago - 1904
Lost, between Dr. Robert's residence and the post office, a gold
brooch in the shape of a dragon, with opal setting; also two pairs
of prayer beads in a leather case, between Catholic Church and John
Bogy's residence. Finder please return same to this office and
receive reward.
75 Years Ago - 1929
Friday evening of last week a friend of ours, living on Route
No. 1, Ste. Genevieve, killed a cat with a heavy club and his
son-in-law tied a string to one of her legs and dragged her into a
ditch. Monday forenoon he was surprised to see the dead cat
come back to the house just as full of life as she had ever been
before. Apparently when he killed her he forgot that a cat has
nine lives, so if he wants to complete the job he will have to kill
her eight more times.
