Thomure - 2007/07/04 22:48 I am looking for info on Charles Thomas Thomure b.1854. He married Sofia Gillenberg b.1861, she was from the Island. Her parents were Jacob and Mina Gillenberg, my ggggrandparents.
Sure wish I had the Project Pioneer book on the Thomures, how can I lay hands on a copy?
Thanks for any info any info anyone can give!

Re:Thomure - 2007/07/10 08:01 I have a Charles Thomas Thomure, baptized at SS Philip & James parish in River Aux Vases, Ste. Genevieve County on 11 Dec 1854.
He is the son of Joseph Thomure and Marie Louise Griffard. I have a total of 10 children for Joseph and Marie. This is from the church records which I read on LDS film #1939724, p 9. Have much more info on their ancestors if you want, but more documentation on Griffards than on the Thomures. The Griffard book that was put out by Project Pioneer is one of the better ones. Email me, if you want more info.

Re:Thomure - 2007/07/10 08:30 Gretchen,
Looks like we ARE talking about the same guy, Charles Thomas Thomure. Found his death certificate #26526 on Missouri Archives, born Dec 10, 1854, died Sep 14, 1928 in Butler Co.
Gives his parents as Joseph Thomure and Mary Griffar and wife as Sophia Thomure. You can find it at this link.

http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/results.asp?type=basic&tLName=thomure&tFName=charles&sCounty=all&tYear=

If you can't find it, I can email it to you as an attachment. Seems I am not having any luck attaching it here.

Re:Thomure - 2007/07/11 20:28 Peggy,
Thank you so much! This is a lost thread in my family tapestry that I am so glad to pick up again!
If it is not too much trouble, could you email what you tried to send as an attachment?
By the way, are you related to the Griffards or Thomures? I cant wait to get home to SG to do some research, and read the Pioneer Books.

Re:Thomure - 2007/07/12 06:59 Gretchen,

Send me your email address - mamoore1@comcast.net and I will send you some info this weekend. My grandmother was Virginia Griffard, d/o James Brazier Griffard [you can see his photo on this website]. James Brazier was s/o Louis Andre Griffard and Mary Ann Heberle. Louis Andre was s/o Louis Griffard and Eulalie Roque. Louis was s/o Alexis Jean Griffard and Madeleine Tirard dit St. Jean. I also have Thomures on my Boyer side of the family.

Re:Thomure - 2007/07/16 13:50 Hey Greatchen :)

I believe Peggy was referring to the photo of James Griffard on this page: http://stegenevieve.net/content/view/295/74/

I'll see if I can attach the death certificate here. I'm curious to know now what the problem is. :)

Also, funny thing: I'm descended from Thomure too. I don't have everyone in my file though, so I'm not sure where we would connect, but all those names are very familiar! My Charles can be found here: http://holifieldfamily.org/people.php?person=00397
Not the same Charles, of course, but he is my great-great-great-great-grandfather. :)

Re:Thomure - 2007/07/16 13:52 Ahhh I know what happened. The file couldn't attach because apparently pdf files were not allowed and it was too big as well. I added pdf to allowed file types and changed the file quota, so let's see if it works this time...

Re:Thomure - 2007/07/25 20:28 Val,
I would love any info that you have on Thomure, anything to help piece together our family quilt! Peggy has sent me some great stuff, would be glad to share. The family stories are the best, I love the fact that all the old SG families seem to be so interconnected, and that my family is a part of that.

Re:Thomure, belated thanks! - 2007/10/24 01:19 I just wanted to thank Peggy Boyer, and Val Holifield, for helping me launch my boat, so to speak, into waters that had begun to be charted by other members of my family.
I always knew that the SG family thread was there when I was growing up as a transplant, so to speak, my immediate family had left 3 generations earlier, and then we returned.
Without your help, this navigation would have been much more difficult, you ladies ROCK!!!

Re:Thomure, belated thanks! - 2007/10/24 12:51 Thanks Gretchen, glad I could be of service. Sorry I'm so slow with getting with things though!
You sound like me though, with the whole family leaving then coming back. I probably already told you this but my great-great-grandfather left for Doe Run then generations went to Bonne Terre then St. Louis and now here I am. :)
