Boyer Place in Ste-Genevieve - 2008/05/28 13:56 Hi. This is my first post so I can say that i'm a cousin of Nicolas Boyer (1716-1785) from Kaskakia and i'm writing to you from Quebec City. He was the first of my family to go in USA that's why i'm interested in Ste-Genevieve.

If it's possible, I'd like to know in whose memory there is a Boyer Place in Ste-Genevieve.

I did everything I can with Internet to find my answer but it didn't work.

Thank you

Re:Boyer Place in Ste-Genevieve - 2008/06/03 05:41 Hi Jonathan,
I am also a descendant of Nicolas Boyer who came from Canada to Kaskaskia, then to Ste. Genevieve Mo. I have much information on his descendants, but I'm not sure what you are calling a "Boyer Place". If you are referring to a homestead, I'm not aware of one. Most of his sons moved to what is now the Old Mines Area and there was what was called Boyer Village around St. Joachim Catholic Church there. It's in Washington County, Mo. They settled there to work the mines. Nicolas' descendants in southeast Missouri are said to number in the thousands. There is a wonderful document titled "Nicolas Boyer and Dorothee Olivier Leave Their Mark" which itemizes the probate of his estate and heirs, published by OMAHS - the Old Mines Area Historical Society, and you can purchase a copy. Here is the link to their website, then go to publications. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~moomahs/

Re:Boyer Place in Ste-Genevieve - 2008/06/03 20:01 This is incredible!! Four years ago there was nothing available on the Web. As french canadians, my family never tried to go over what i called the language barrier.

I have a lot informations about Nicolas Boyer, the grand-father of Nicolas Boyer of Kaskakia, who was the first to come in Montreal in 1664 if you are interested. You've just convinced me to translate it in english!

By the way, I refered to the "Boyer Place" as a little street in Ste-Genevieve.

Re:Boyer Place in Ste-Genevieve - 2008/06/04 05:55 Jonathan,
Please email me at mamoore1@comcast.net if you want to share information. I am always looking for more information on Nicolas Boyer. Have found some information in the Canadian Archives online. I can read French pretty well, better than I can speak it or write it - but well enough to get along. If you have access to Ancestry.com you can see my family tree titled "Boyer Family France to Canada to Missouri". There are many good online sources I can share with you.

Re:Boyer Place in Ste-Genevieve - 2008/06/05 17:34 Hello, I am very excited to tell you that my family lives on Boyer Place, and there is a very nice little vertical log cabin in our back yard which was recently conserved. My name is Taylor and I am a senior art history student (undergrad). I would be very happy to communicate with you about the cabin/land/etc. My email is tlk222@truman.edu and I very much hope to hear from you! -taylor

Re:Boyer Place in Ste-Genevieve - 2008/07/18 13:09 I am also connected to this family!

My line is Nicolas > Jacques > Henrietta (Harriette?) > Aspasie Winston who married Charles Thomure.
Oh and my other line is Nicolas > Marianne > Marie Louise Robert who married Louis Julien Ratte LaBruyere.

I've been unable to research much at all lately, I'd completely forgotten I am descended from Nicolas twice, how cool is that? (haha)

I also have to admit that I live in Ste. Genevieve and didn't really even know about Boyer Place. :)

Taylor, if you don't mind, we can post anything you would want to share about the house and area. Let me know! Thanks :)

My links to the Boyers are through my Degagne and Robert lines.
