Re:Govro and Williams in Ste. Genevieve - 2006/02/11 19:24Thanks, Becky, I've saved it to my family trees along with your note about accuracy and hopefully one of these days I'll be able to verify it all. Hard to get anything done with a two year old running around. :):: my family tree :: my photos ::

Re:Govro and Williams in Ste. Genevieve - 2006/02/12 20:32Becky-I cannot find the picture that you sent to me of the First Communion of Great Grandma Bahr. I also would like that line going back some. I would like to take some time and find the graves of those relatives buried in Zell, Weingarten, Ozora, and Ste. Gen. since I am there every day. I also would like to know some of the relatives in Germany as my husband and I may have the opportunity to go overseas soon. Thanks for the help. Hope Rachel is doing well. Bry is going to cmsu and is hopefully studying abroad next year, so these names will be a good thing for her also. Kay

Re:Govro and Williams in Ste. Genevieve - 2006/02/14 18:37Kay, The graves of George and Katie Bahr (our great grandparents) are in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Ozora. Katie's mother, Louisa Ader Bieser is also there but unmarked. Her father, Ferdinand Bieser is buried in Valle Springs in Ste. Gen. His father, Anton is buried in Our Lady's in Weingarten. George Bahr's parents (Joseph Bahr and Theresa Mühlhausler) are buried in Calvary Cemetery in DeSoto. Grandma and Grandpa DeGonia are buried in Soul's of Abraham in Morse Mill and are next to Thomas Joseph and Martha DeGonia, grandpa's parents. That should keep you busy looking for these gravesites. Anton Bieser's first wife, Martha Caroline Saar or Sahr is buried at St. Joseph's in Zell, unmarked grave.
Do you know if your parents have any family photos of ancestors? If they do I will ask them for copies.

Re:Govro and Williams in Ste. Genevieve - 2006/07/16 12:11Valerie, I was in the courthouse a few weeks ago and found the original marriage contract for Henry Govreau and Louise Caron. It lists Etienne Govreau and Marie Lavalle as his parents and Louis Caron and Marguerite Vallë as her parents. This helps source the information that we thought was correct about which Etienne was Henry's father. The document is in french so I'm not able to read all of the information in the three pages. I'll try to scan and upload to this site sometime this week if you're interested.

Re:Govro and Williams in Ste. Genevieve - 2006/07/22 21:21Hey, that's great!
Henri is not my line, of course, but I share Etienne and Marie so I'd be interested in what it has to say about them, of course. And, if you want to, we can certainly post the files on the site, that would be great, too. I also know someone who speaks French, she may be able to translate, if I can bribe her. ;-):: my family tree :: my photos ::

Re:Govro and Williams in Ste. Genevieve - 2008/02/17 12:54My line is Marie Caron who married Edmond Charleville, parents Louis Caron and Julie Hyacinthe Roussin, Louis' parents Joseph Caron and Marie Henri (or Henry) dit LaHaye, Joseph's parents Louis Caron and Marguerite (Marie Louise) Valle, Louis' parents Claude Caron (B. 8-12-1714 Montreal died Kaskaskia) married 2-28-1743 to Charlotte La Chenais (Chenay, b. 2-11-1725) Claude Caron's parents were Claude Caron and Jeanne Boyer (Montreal. Charlotte's parents were Philippe LaChenais (B. 1699 and note that he was a baker) He married on 11-24-1721 Marguerite Texier. This is all from research my mother did from church papers and courthouse records back in the '70s. I'm amazed at what she was able to do and I've found verification for it on other websites. I hope this information might help someone who is looking for it, but mostly I would love to know I have some cousins down there!
(Valerie, how do I make one of those cool family webpages like yours?)

Re:Govro and Williams in Ste. Genevieve - 2008/02/19 17:37Oh, it's in my signature, I assume you do mean that site. :)
Well, I do host some here at stegenevieve.net and I'd love to give one to you provided you promise me you will keep it updated. There are several out there that have not updated in like 2 years and email addresses have gone bad and such and I don't like leaving a dead site up there for obvious reasons yet hesitate to remove it in case they still want it and ah, it's just a vicious cycle! If you want one, please drop me an email via the contact form and I'll get you hooked up. It's been a long time since I had submissions opened so I don't think my form is available anymore, but I'd need some info from you to set it up.:: my family tree :: my photos ::
