the new stegenevieve.net

Yes, if you’ve been here recently, the site looks pretty much the same.  However, looks are deceiving as it is nothing but the same!  For a large host of reasons, I’ve had to change the program that runs the site.  Users who have access to the administration panel or post/update information will notice a VERY big change.  Don’t let that discourage you, it should actually be easier to use than before.  In fact, one of my reasons for changing has to do with the fact that this way it will be so much simpler for a user to add photos and documents.  If you have editing access, you can now add these things without having to contact me first, right from the editing section.  Also, if your post says it was written by me or someone else, please contact me to fix it so you can update it – unfortunately, while users imported, ownership of their pages did not.

A lot of things for the end-user will have to change as well.  I am in the process of getting everything going again and trying to organize information and bring over photos.  However, other than where to find some things and the links to pages, I don’t think you will notice too much.  At the moment, though, I am still mulling over how to handle the Surname Registry.  The registry has always been the hardest part of this site as I prefer not to have just a simple list or to show email addresses where spam bots can pick them up, but I will get this going again in an efficient manner as soon as I can.

One plus is that you will now be able to add comments on a lot of pages on this site.  If you have information to add, update, or just something to say, please leave a comment!

Finally, if you had a login to this site before, even if you never did anything with it and did not have editing capabilities, you still have a login.  Passwords should also be the same, but I can’t promise that.  If you can’t log in, please try requesting a password.  Sometime in the near future, however, I am going to email everyone in an attempt to weed out spam or otherwise inactive accounts.  I think that those who do not respond, especially for the Surname Registry, will have accounts closed.  But remember, a login for this site is not required for anything, though I might have to require it for the registry, we shall see, depends on how I am to accomplish it!
