PERSONAL MENTION

Rev. Father WEISS went to St. Louis Sunday.

Miss RosieBAECHLE, of St. Louis, is here visiting her parents.

Mr. H.L. ROZIER and lady returned from their wedding tour last Saturday.

Miss Mamie KIMMEL, of Cape Girardeau, is visiting Mr. J.S. WHITLOCK’s family.

Miss Lulu MOREAU is quite dangerously ill, suffering of congestion of the brain.

Mr. P.J. MENARD, of Galveston, Texas, is here visiting Mrs. A. MENARD and family.

Mr. Henry GROBE, Jr., came down from St. Louis last week to spend a few weeks with his parents.

Mr. Fred. CHOUTEAU, of Kansas City, is in town visiting relatives. He is the guest of Mr. Ely JANIS.

Miss Mina BUEHLER, of St. Mary, has been spending a few weeks in town, the guest of Miss Louisa LANPHER.

Mr. Chas. BURKS, from Union Township was in town Saturday looking for the Democratic Central Committee.

Our young friend, Steve VIRGILIO has left Farmington, where he had been working for some time, and taken up his abode in Ironton, Mo.

Mr. Augustus EBERT, of New York, private Secretary of S.B. ELKINS, James G. BLAINE’s political manager, is here as a guest of Capt. Gustavus ST. GEM.

Mr. Theodor DEFFNER, who has been attending college at Addison, Ill., where he graduated, is in town. He will probably commence his career as a teacher the coming season.

Our young friend Adam BUENNIGER, of Willow Pond, was in town this week ordering a new steam thresher of HOFFMANN & SUCHER, with which he in company  with others, will operate in Jackson township this fall. We wish them success.

Mr. Aug. REIK, of Hermann, Mo., U.S. Ganger, has been busy ganging home-distilled brandy in this county for more than a week past. Being a member of a cornet band at Hermann, he hastened home the first part of the week, to be at his post to-day.

Mrs. Jos. DOERR, formerly of this place but now a resident of St. Louis, came down on the "Elliott" last Saturday to spend some time with her friends. She is the guest of Mr. Valentine ROTTLER’s family. We hear that Mr. DOERR will be down to-day, to assist in the celebration of the Fourth.
