McGee Cemetery

The following comes from the Genealogists’ Exchange from Spring of 1986 as originally transcribed by Nellie Best and was submitted by Barbara Morgan.  The original page is also attached. William W. McGee was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War.  He was with Robert E. Lee in the Army of Northern Virginia.  He was a 2nd Lieutenant when he was captured at Sailors Creek, VA on the retreat to Appomattox/  He was held prisoner at Johnson’s Island, Ohio, until he took the Oath of Allegiance on June 19, 1865.  He entered the army in 1862.
