“A Midwestern View: The Artists of the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony,” exhibiting at MAA through May 15, gives viewers an expanded vision of the Midwestern landscape through an intimate look at one of its landmarks. Proving Pixley’s point, it showcases styles along a spectrum from cubism to regionalism, impressionism to abstract expressionism. Although not every piece in the show was produced within the city limits of Ste. Genevieve, each was created by someone who saw his or her horizons extended and expanded by time spent in the town.
