INTRODUCTION, FAIR PLAY — please read first

The Ste. Genevieve Fair Play newspaper was a weekly publication that began in on June 14, 1872 and continued through 1961 in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri.  The paper was suspended from January 16, 1943 to December 14, 1945.  The Publisher was S. Henry Smith.
The Ste. Genevieve Genealogy Club originally planned to transcribe only vital records  (births, deaths and marriages) from the microfilmed issues of the historic newspaper, however, the wealth of genealogical information included in nearly every issue made the significance of including as many of the personal stories as possible a must.
The transcriptions are recorded as printed; typos, mis-spelling of names and places and grammar  unchanged.  Some lengthy descriptions of wedding parties and lists of gifts are not included but a notation is made when a list exists but was not transcribed.
Several years are not included in the microfilm.

The dates that are available are: 1872-1877,1880-1886,1888-1943,1946-1961

Please note: by using these transcriptions you agree that they are to be used for personal genealogical use only and are not for re-publication.  Thank you!
